This marina resort is located at Snug Cove and is surrounded by a 600 acre park with lakes, walking and bicycle trails, picnic areas and beaches that were once part of the Union SteamShip Company's Bowen Island resort. It is a tiny harbor on the east side of Bowen Island, adjacent to Mannion Bay (49 degrees 23’N-123 degrees 19’W). Approximately eight nautical miles northwest of the city of Vancouver, this is the gateway to the protected waters of Howe Sound, a spectacular fjord with mountains rising dramatically out of the sea. The entrance to Snug Cove is well lit, shoal free, and has plenty of depth for deep draft vessels. The marina, a first class, year-round facility, has quality floats for visiting boats from 20-200 feet in length, and a float plane landing. Check in at the store. Free wireless internet service. Electrical outlets for 30 and 50 amps, clean water, laundry, and showers provided. At the head of the harbor is a small village with quaint boutiques, boardwalks, and historic, turn-of-the century buildings. Original Union SteamShip Company cottages, which overlook Snug Cove, have been carefully preserved to maintain their original character. They are available for overnight lodging. This location is ideal to meet or exchange crew members. It is a 20 minute ferry ride from West Vancouveršs Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal. From Seattle, it is only a two and one half hour drive via Canadašs Highway #1, or just 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver. The ferry and water taxi are adjacent to the marina facility. Good cell phone reception. VHF 66 A.
